Introducing: season three of Media Chaplaincy New Zealand’s podcast, re_covering.
Media Chaplaincy is pleased to introduce the third season of their podcast, re_covering.
Hosted by Media Chaplain and broadcaster, Rev Frank Ritchie, re_covering is all about New Zealand journalists and the extraordinary stories that have stuck with them.
In each episode, Frank meets with a top NZ journalist to unpack the one big story that has impacted them the most, personally and professionally.
Journalists are often on the frontline of big events - both the traumatic and the triumphant. It is easy to read the article or see the person presenting the news and not see them as real people who are deeply affected by the stories they tell.
This podcast goes behind the scenes to hear about the process of telling these stories. Frank is an empathetic and thoughtful host who is able to wear both his chaplain hat and broadcaster hat as he interviews these journalists and unpacks the feelings they carry about the stories that have impacted them.
The episodes are raw, authentic and a fascinating look into the minds and hearts of some of New Zealand’s greatest storytellers and how they personally respond to the unique pressures of their journalistic roles.
This season’s line-up of guests includes Barbara Dreaver, Justin Latif, Olivia Shivas, Micahel Moorah, Anusha Bradley, Simon Wilson, Anna Burns-Francis, and Cameron Bennett.
Media Chaplaincy’s hope is this podcast can be used by other journalists, media professionals and the general public to understand the intricacies of the stories behind the headlines.
A special thanks to the team from Love It Media who produced the podcast: audio engineer/producers Josh Couch and Mick Andrews and photographer, and social media coordinator, Stephanie Soh.
Thank you also to Radio New Zealand for giving MCNZ a platform to promote this work.
